TIP: The start of the new year is a perfect time to identify opportunities for strengthening your practice’s marketing efforts. Look for ways to be even more focused and on target as a way of extending marketing dollars and boosting impact.

HOW:  Follow our countdown for the TOP 10 MARKETING RESOLUTIONS FOR 2012!

   10.   Get everyone on board this year – marketing is – and should be -- everyone's job!

     9.   If you haven’t already, look for ways that social media tools can be used to extend practice

messages and help reach clients at the right time through the channels that THEY prefer.

     8.   Develop a real marketing strategy – based on defined goals and objectives – instead of just

            listing a bunch of tactics.

     7.   Segment clients into distinguishable, reachable groups with similar needs and concerns.

Targeted marketing is more meaningful and will produce better results.

     6.   Identify and pursue service niches that provide the greatest profit margins. For one

veterinarian in Michigan, reaching out to an underserved niche – rabbit dentistry – has

            made the practice profitable.

     5.   Set measurable marketing goals and objectives. They should be specific – far beyond

           “getting our name out there.”

     4.   Put in place systems to measure results. If it’s not measurable; don’t do it.

     3.   Know your client retention rate –and who is leaving the practice and why.

     2.   Make client retention and growth a priority over new client attraction. You will be

            surprised what happens.

     1.   Listen to clients before you market! Hands down – make this your top marketing resolution

for the New Year! We wish you a very happy and successful 2012!

IDEA: Start the New Year with a candid discussion among veterinarians and staff. Ask for input on practice strengths/weaknesses and how to better serve clients in 2012. Use this information to help get your resolutions on track!
